From doing an A4D Challenge to offering expertise, there are lots of ways you can join us on our mission to save and transform lives.
Over the course of the year, we organise fantastic fundraising challenges. Whether you are a super keen cyclist or are looking for a family day out, there is something for everyone:
“We are so lucky in the UK to have the NHS… the thought of not having access to insulin is frightening”
Andy Penn, Team A4D Cyclist with Type 1 Diabetes
– Penrith2Paris: Kate Nye’s Virtual #Mission4Type1
Kate Nye is a teaching assistant in the UK and two of her young students have Type 1 Diabetes. While helping them to manager their condition, she realised there were children in other parts of the world who do not have access to insulin and blood testing equipmentthat someone with Type 1 Diabetes needs to survive.
So Kate decided to help the vulnerable people that A4D support. Join Kate and her two students on a virtual mission on the weekend of June 27 & 28th from where they live in Penrith, 900km to the capital of France, Paris. Any exercise you do over the weekend will help ‘Team Neev and James’ on their way to Paris!
Kate was originally taking part in a solo ‘London2Paris’ ride but this is now likely to be cancelled due to COVID-19. We want as many people as possible to get involve and, for every KM travelled, raise £2 either through fundraising or through an individual donation.
– A4D True Grit Challenge, UK in April – CANCELED
Walk it or run it on Saturday, 25th April 2020
It is with regret that we have had to cancel the A4D True Grit Challenge 2020 due to COVID-19. Please contact email@example.com if you have any questions.
After a fantastic event in 2019, where 55 walkers trekked a combined 1,900 miles in the Peak District, UK, we are back in collaboration with Will4Adventure.
With two different routes easily accessible and starting in Sheffield – one at 25-miles and the other at 50-miles – there is something for everyone. Families and experienced athletes alike are welcome! All you need to do is go as far as you can within 24-hours.
An A4D Challenge can be anything from a walk in the park to an Iron Man. Contact us (at the bottom of the page) and create your own: we will support you all the way!
Sarah Fulford cycled from Lands End to John O’groats.

We love to work with organisations looking for CSR opportunities. From sponsorship of our challenges, arranging volunteer for staff to organising pro bono activities we are experienced at building fruitful partnerships.

Make a donation:
The easiest way to get involved is through a direct donation. All money raised goes directly towards supporting young people with Type 1 Diabetes in Southeast Asia!
There are two ways in which you can volunteer for A4D:
A4D Challenges: Marshall at an event, provide encouragement from a support vehicle or complete your Duke of Edinburgh Volunteer Bronze with us!
Expert Volunteers: If you are a healthcare professional or someone with Type 1 Diabetes, and would like to offer your help, then there could be potential volunteer opportunities to get involved in our front line care.
The sad truth is that, despite our success, there are still many young people who are dying of Type 1 Diabetes in Southeast Asia. We need all the support we can to help change this. Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved with A4D. Thank you.
