We are delighted that Mihai Irimescu has chosen to run the Singapore Marathon in support of A4D at the end of November 2019.
Although Mihai has completed marathons before, this will be his first after limited opportunities to train. But as Mihai makes clear in his fundraising story, our lives are all defined by chances, and this is one that he wants to take. Whether or not he breaks his personal best.
Mihai added that “it gives me a tremendous sense of purpose and energy’ to be supporting ‘something so close to my heart, which is tackling Diabetes and the way it affects vulnerable people, in this case, children with Type 1 in Southeast Asia.”
Since coming out to Asia in 2015, Mihai has developed an affection for the region he now thinks of as a second home. Over these last four year, he has witnessed many developments, but particularly in Diabetes Management.
Mihai is a Roche Diabetes Care employee, so he knows first hand the challenges that people with the condition face in Southeast Asia.
“I believe there is so much synergy between what [Roche] can do at a market level – impacting product availability – and A4D, which is grass-roots support for screening and providing life-saving support for disadvantaged children with Type 1 Diabetes in this region.”
“I feel fortunate and privileged as a Roche Diabetes Care employee to get engaged with A4D, support them and impact Diabetes care beyond my daily work.”
We are so pleased that Mihai is choosing to go beyond for A4D. Good luck, Mihai!
Please consider supporting him on his marathon and take a look at his JustGiving page. Remember, $500 is enough to support one child for one year with life-saving medication.
