On the 18th March, Action4Diabetics raised over $30,000 for young people with Type 1 Diabetes in their most successful gala dinner to date in Bangkok. (Over 1.1 Million Thai Bhat!)

The Dust Thani Hotel – Bangkok was the venue for the gala dinner and charity auction “A Night With Heroes” attended by 170 people. It was brilliant to see so much support for the charity and for young people with Type 1 Diabetes in the region. Together we can make such a big difference; transforming lives for the better.

As a result of the dinner, 18 people and organisations have committed to joining our new ‘Sponsor a Child’ programme. This new initiative allows people who support A4D to pledge $500 towards the care of a young person with Type 1 Diabetes for a year covering most of the costs for the provision sof essential Medical Supplies required for a child with Type 1 Diabetes in order for them to survive and live a full and productive life.1

The amount of money raised will enable A4D to double, yes DOUBLE, the size of their operations in Thailand to include 80 children on our program. This has helped us reach our targets for now, but the mission is still not accomplished! There are many young children with Type 1 Diabetes who still are unable to afford to gain access to the essential care and support.

A4D want to say a special thanks to the British Embassy in Thailand for their support. Brian Davidson, the British Ambassador was one of the special guests to the event and opened the evening with a wonderfully warm and positive speech. The ongoing support from the Embassy to the UK registered charity was confirmed when they agreed to sponsor 2 children on our ‘Sponsor A Child’ programme over the next two years.

Also a special thanks also goes to The Dusit Thani Hotel, who were extremely helpful in organising the event and donated 5 super weekend breaks at their various properties, and other key partners such as Harrow International School – Bangkok, BDMS Medical Group, Roche Diagnostics, MEG Laos, and Vitidnan Rojanapanich the first ever Thai to climb and summit Mount Everest.

As a result of everyone’s tremendous support and encouragement A4D will more than double its reach and impact in 2017 – young people with Type 1 Diabetes in South East Asia and their families can look forward to a better life and better future as a result. THANK YOU
