The A4D team flew from Yangon to Chang Mai on the 24th November to continue their busy programme meeting young Type 1 Diabetics in the region.
Our Co-founders and Fiona Ooi spent a memorable few days in Northern Thailand where they were lucky enough to be joined by the brilliant and dedicated staff of Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital: HQ for Type 1 Diabetes care in the region.
Co-founder Jerry Gore spent the first afternoon at the Hospital where he entertained and educated with his stories of mountaineering as a Type 1 diabetic.
The families and children were excited to hear that when Type 1 Diabetes is
properly managed, the sky is the limit! A big thanks to Dr Prapai for his translating skills. The next day, together with the A4D partners at the Chiang Mai hospital, the A4D team traveled out into the surrounding countryside to meet some of the children with Type 1 Dabetes whom A4D support.
The A4D team were met with an enthusiastic welcome from the families that they help and the village elders.
This included some delicious homemade desserts, prepared by one of our patient’s
Grandmother! Everyone involved had a brilliant afternoon chatting and sharing stories. To see the happiness and well being that good health can bring to a family makes all the hard work seem worth it.
A big thank you to everyone who has given their support to the children with Type 1 diabetes and their families in the Chiang Mai area. The A4D team were happy to see that the donations are really appreciated
