World famous mountaineer, Sir Chris Bonington, has shared his support for the Action4Diabetics True Grit Challenge taking place this April. Unlike Sir Chris’s nineteen expeditions to the Himalayas, the walk on the Peak District is going to be open to all abilities and ‘promises to be a good challenge for families and experienced walkers alike.’
Sir Chris has been Action4Diabetics patron since 2016, and we are pleased that he has approved of our latest challenge on April 27th. After the success of last year’s event, we are hoping to walk even more miles and raise even more money for disadvantaged young people with Type 1 Diabetes.
Help to save a life
Why is this important? At Action4Diabetics we believe that everyone should have access to Insulin and Blood testing equipment, no matter where they are from. Sir Chris shares this view, saying that ‘Type 1 Diabetes strikes indiscriminately, and if untreated is fatal’, imploring people to raise money towards ‘providing essential medication and support to disadvantaged young people with Type 1 Diabetes’. By taking part in this event, you can help raise this money and save the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves!
Help to transform a life
A key aspect of healthy living with Type 1 Diabetes is exercise, whether this is walking, running, cycling, football or even climbing. As a mountaineer, Sir Chris embodies an active lifestyle. As our patron, he becomes an active-life role model for the children with Type 1 Diabetes that we support. This walk in the Peak District is your opportunity also to become a role model. Through the walk, you will help to inspire the children we look after to reach their full potential.
So what are you waiting for? Join us on April 27th in the Peak District for the True Grit Challenge! And help to save and transform a life 🙂
